maxxed out now. If you're not having any stability problems there's no need
to spend the extra money.

Or, in the case of GPL, video cards that attempted to establish a
standard and failed.
Henry notwithstanding, speaking from the perspective of a casual gamer
with no great patience when it comes to fussing with video drivers, I
am tempted to agree with your inclination to buy the card the game was
designed to run on. Anything else is just that: anything else --
something which depends upon a fiddled driver to function.
With each passing day, GPL gets farther and farther away from the
world in which it was designed to run. Best snag a Voodoo card now in
hopes of seeing something close to what it was the guys at Papyrus saw
when they were writing the original code.
I have -- this sounds like a wine snob -- a Reactor which has never
been used (still in the original wrapper) which might be perfect for
this particular sim. I'll let you know if it's ambrosia or vinegar.

1. Get a Voodoo3 if you are going to get one. Even 2 Voodoo 2 cards in
SLI mode is not as fast as a single Voodoo3.
2. The TNT2 Ultra is capable of 32 bit color (although I don't know if
GPL supports it or if you are using it) whereas the Voodoo3 is only
capable of 16 bit.
3. I would guess that any increase in framerates would be minimal, but
the key word here is GUESS. I may be totally off base.

As the framerate in GPL is limited to 36 fps you will not have an advantage
if you buy a Voodoo...
