Considering the development time and assuming I had not seen
any preview, article or r.a.s post about GP3, would it have been
overly unrealistic to expect these things?

- radio chatter
- visually moving suspension
- full course yellow, pace cars
- true stop and go penalties
- free driving in the installation lap
- improved setup otions and measurement such as camber,
  tire pressure and temperature
- engine/gearbox temperature, overreving
- different cars (shape) with different performance for the player
- ideal line made of virtual *** on the track instead of the dotted
one
- simply better looking graphics

Feel free to add. :-)

How about tracks and drivers newer than the 1998 season!!!  Uh come on, half
the drivers no longer run on the same teams!  I could see 1999, but 98?  No
Indy Track, no Malaysia??  Makes me think this is GP2 with Direct 3D, FF,
and a 1998 season patch added....

How about a replay feature?  No replays!

Player racing views......cockpit.. that's it...

Curb rebound physics are very suspect... When's the last time you saw a car
go with half the wheels on the grass, and the other half on the curb, and
hug the corner on the limit.......

Frame rate, and overall driving experiance are VERY good, FF is excellent as
well, AI is far above average compared to the other F1 sims out today, but
still not perfect.....it could have been so much more with a little more
time........

"Jan Loebzien" wants to see in GP3 (but has to wait for GP4;)):

- driving via lan or internet, just like GPL
- different cars should have different 'abilities', just like GPL
- make GPL2 not GP4 ;))

so long

How about some Graphics updated for 2000 and 2001.  Jeff is still living
in 1995.

FFB excellent???  What settings and wheel are you using?

Various dudes have written:

Do you find that the setup options you have already are not enough?
Yes, I know that in the ideal simulator, all the suspension setup
options in real life would also be modelled, but if you dont currently
use all the options available [in level 2 setup] then why the hell
would you want even more?

Aww.. c'mon.. the dotten line is for your sister.
No *real* simulator driver uses the dotted line for more than one or
two laps anyway.
You actually want the dotted line to be clearly visible for the
average beginner/punter/arcade game player.

- different cars should have different 'abilities',

Not really.  The current crop of cars are quite close... only a few
seconds per lap, of which horsepower is a large percentage which is
already modelled.

Now different *drivers* having different abilities... Yes!

I dont think anyone reading this newsgroup has any reason at all
to fret over that, since reworked car sets [and tracks of course] will
almost certainly be available on many sites quite quickly.

cheers...

Didn't someone make this wishlist four years ago?  Stop waiting, it
doesn't appear to be coming.  It amazes me that people are willing to
accept the NASCAR3 scenario all over again.  We deserve better than
that for our $40-50, don't you think?  I worship GPL, but haven't
bought a sim since.  There is something to be said for KEEPING UP with
competition...other developers are not even doing that...and GPL IS 2
YEARS OLD NOW!  I'm waiting for the *** reviews of GP3 before
getting within 5 feet of it.  Looks like my money will be going to N4
(if Papy can deliver again) and WSC.  ::(

There _is_ TCP so Internet is possible, just not for "analog modems"
as the readme says. :-)

Why should I ever say "enough"? They options are the same as in GP2
and I was expecting an improvement. Tire handling is such a crucial
part of modern F1, it's hard to get over that they left it out.

My sister doesn't drive. :-)
But my point is, I don't want the artificial line because it makes it
too easy. Instead I want to see a naturally laid line, just like you
see on a real track. Plus plenty of "***" in the braking zones,
again like on a real track.

There is some sort of racing line texture, but it's a) barely visible,
b) doesn't match the real "ideal" line (the dotted one) and c) no
visible braking zones, i.e. no dark spots/areas of virtual ***
before the corners (or at least not really pronounced).

>How about a replay feature?  No replays!

Yeah, still only the same 20 seconds instant replay. :-(

Well that should be enough, shouldn't it? We're talking
about a sim, right? :-)
A little adjustment option would have been nice (try the
view angle thingie in the graphics option, I prefer the full
145%, even though the tires look a little weird).

But you _can_ drive from the outside view, just like in GP2.

Speaking of the outside views, it would be nice to have free
pan and zoom, not just the pretty limited options like (again)
in GP2.

A little more time, I dunno. If 4 years were not enough for
fundamental changes, 6 more months would probably not
have made a difference.

All the things Microprose have said they will add to GP4 are relatively
peripheral things, like pit-radio comms, pace-car, formation lap (etc).  I
think their time would be better spent going back to the physics code and
getting it running faster than 25 fps.

He's the guy who broke into Geoff Crammonds chamber, hijacked him and is holding
him for ransom in exchange for the real GP3 everybody was waiting.
