I ran some laps tonight with the Lotus.  I started at Mosport - PB *was*
1:29.32 in Ferrari.  I ran about 30 laps. Turned a 1:32.xx first lap.  Ran off
5 straight 1:30's.  Shoot, maybe I'm just stuck here...  Lap 7, 1:29.42.  Ok,
not a record, but close.  Lap 8, 1:29.29.  New PB, but not by much.  Let's try
a different line in a couple turns - oops, 1:36.xx.  Ok, calm down, keep it on
the track - 1:28.00.  WOW!, big drop!  Try getting on the gas sooner...
Assorted screwups...lap 14 - 1:27.12, lap 22 - 1:27.05, lap 23 - 1:26.67, lap
28 - 1:26.12, lap 29 - 1:26.07(!)  Got greedy on the next lap(trying to get
into 1:25's...1:34.xx - screwed up the jump.  But, I was on a pace for a
mid-1:25.  In all, 13 out of 30 laps were UNDER my previous PB.
Hmm - I wonder what would happen on a different track?  Mexico - only 5 laps,
each one was under my PB - dropped 1.63 seconds total.
Rouen - ran about 5 or so laps - PB dropped 1.95 seconds total.
Zandvoort(tempting fate) - dropped Lotus PB to 1:30.11, but my 1:29.73 in the
Brabham stands. :(
Discouraged(slightly), I quit GPL, to update my GPLRank handicap.  But, I had
another thought...hmm, do I *dare* try it?

Start up GPL again - MONZA!  My PB with the Lotus was 1:30.53, and a 1:30.17 in
the Ferrari.
Lap 1 (recon) 1:36.42
Lap 2 - 1:31.38    getting up to speed...
Lap 3 - 1:30.31    PB with Lotus, but not enough, darnit.  Maybe I was deluding
myself...
Lap 4 - 1:29.85(!)  oh, SHIT! - did I read that right???
Lap 5 - 1:29.83    WTF, 2 in a ROW?!?  I'm still in shock over breaking 1:30,
and***up the 2nd Lesmos
Lap 6 - 1:30.13 - not bad after that brain fade...let's try one more...
Lap 7 - 1:29.21!!!!!
Lap 8 - out of gas....son of a...  Ok, I can deal with that...<g>

So, to recap - 5 tracks, 4 new PBs, lowered my handicap by almost 7 seconds,
got under 1:30 at Monza!
Not ***ing bad, if I *do* say so myself...

I *told* you guys that you'd hear about it if I got under 1:30 at
Monza!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm going to bed now.  It's after midnight...

Eldred - still smiling... :)

It looks like someone has been at the performance enhancing *** :) ,
either that or all your practice is finally paying off.  Congrats Eldred.  I
guess I better revise my signature again!

Cheers

STOP IT....
otherwise I'll be back in the ST. Eldreds Cup in no time, and I was so proud
when I left it a few weeks ago.

PS: Just shows that when you are stuck somewhere in life (or GPL), forget
the problem for a while and come back with a new angle... At least thats
always my excuse when I go for a few beers in the middle of some crisis :)

You see - I KNEW something was up once Eldred started to post to hot
lap sites.  Before we know it we'll all be struggling to get a negative
St. Eldred rank and talking about chopping off more time at the ring so
we can be as good as Eldred.

Congrats Eldred!  I'm beginning to wish that Andre had never told you about that
left foot! Damn.. I'm only faster than you at the Glen (and by a whole 0.2 sec).
You'll soon have to come up with a new gig now that you're faster than the average
GPL driver.

And please let us know what you ate/drank/prayed to that day! :)

I'd like to thank Andre for pressuring me to left-foot brake, F1 2K for giving
me a new sim to practice it in, Alison Hine for her Lotus setups.  I'd also
like to thank the distinguished members of the academy...<g>
