Ok, now LISTEN! I'm off to get married this weekend which means no GPL for 5
whole days! If I return to find myself back in the St Eldred's Cup I shall
be verrrry cross!

I had a similar experience with Mosport - once you get in the rhythm the
seconds just drop right off. Watch Greger's replay - I'm 4 seconds slower
than him (of course) but I use his setup. I matched his shifts and my times
improved a ton.

p.s. Congrats, EP.

Just HOW did it?
I keep struggling to get under 1.30 at Monza.

What does the trick?

Congrats Eldred, you'll be smiling for a week. It's great isn't it? Progress in
this game comes so hard it really feels like an acomplishment to move ahead in
it. You've now beaten the time of one of the standard replays, Monza. It was
also my first, and felt like such a break through. I thought "I can do this"
and it really motivated me to go after the rest.  Sub Zero is next Eldred, go
for it!

How long did it take you to make the switch form right to left foot? I
suppose I'm going to have to do the same <sigh>

Great job man!!!!  I figured taking some time away would help.  But,
don't even *think* about going to bed until at least an hour's stint out
at The Ring!  You may just get into the negatives yet...<g>

Nice goin'.

After reading this, I just had to improve on some track, and
Mexico was kind enough to give me a new pb! (just over half a second).

And still, "I feel the need... the need for speed!" (Ok. Old, but still !)

After reading this, and seing that you had beaten the only half-decent
PB that I had, (Monza, 1:29.46) I just had to have another go at it.
First run: 11 laps, most below 1:30, but no records.
Second run gave a 1:29.22 on the last lap, new PB! Wow, i'm on to
something here!
Third run, 11 laps of gas again. Lots of mistakes, trying too hard.
Going through Parabolica fuel pressure needle starts falling, last
chance, focus, focus! My back is getting wet and my eyes are tiring.
Manages to finish without any stupid moves and exits to see the times.
And what do I see?  Lap 11: 1:28.92!! After all those laps it took to get
below 1:30 I never EVER expected to go below 1:29.

Okay, now I'm really choked!!! Granted I've only owned GPL for 3 weeks (I
know, I know...) but I thought I was making great progress at Monza by
turning laps in the mid 1:31's all the time utilizing left foot braking. I
have always used my left foot to brake while simming due to some experience
rallying (sp?) in a little Ford Cortina in the early 80's. So... just when
I'm feeling good about myself... along comes Eldred and decides to "try"
left footing it and BAM!!!, he's under 1:30!!! I think I hate you, Eldred.

When I first tried it in GPL, I could only do it at Monza.  That's where the
1:30.53 came from.  When I tried it recently, I couldn't stay on the track.
Then I got F1 2K from Ebay.  I tried it in that sim(I was pissed at GPL).  I
figured - EVERYTHING is new, so it couldn't hurt.  After I came back to GPL, it
didn't seem so hard then...<shrug>
I'd say switching braking gained me about a second or so on each track.  The
leaps I took last night must have been due to the Lotus - HAD to be.
