I've been experimenting with my DUN settings as well. I find that
I can't connect at 56k (actually, usually 48k) with error corection
turned off. I also have access to an ISP line with 28.8/33.6k modems,
and I find I can connect at this speed with error correction off.
So, anyone have an opinion on what's better: 28.8/33.6k with error
correction off, or 56k with error correction on?
Also, I can now upgrade my Zoom to V.90 over my current K56Flex.
Anyone find an improvement (or degradation) of performance with V.90?
And since you got me talking... I've been having a problem of
being disconnected from GPL servers (while still connected to my ISP).
Often my external has its "CS" light off when this happens. I
understand that's "Clear to Send", a signal generated by the hosting
modem. The way I interpret it is that my ISP's modem is unable to
receive data from me, which is leading to my GPL disconnects. Can
anyone confirm or deny? Thanks.
