gameport / usb converter

Hi folks,

I am running my tsw2 with "old" thrustmaster t1 pots that I had lying
around as spares.

Will it be possible to run a "normal" gameport -> usb converter with
this setup or will I have to go the long way and order the $100
conversion kit from Thomas? If I understand it correctly, the custom
converter is only needed if you run the higher "spec" pots in the TSW,
or am I mistaken?

Thanks much in advance & all the best,

uwe

I have used the Rockfire USB adapter with great success. No sothware needs
installing (Win98), rather it just appears in the Controller setup of
Windows ready for calibrating. The thing is the high quality 250k ohm pots
are required when using the likes of the Rockfire. I have heard some say
that its no good but they haven't upgrade their old 50k pots and thus get a
very notched movement through the Rockfire. Its a high quality unit and it
needs high quality pots.
Here is a link to it on my RRC web pages.

Also the unit that Jone Tytlandsvik has mentioned looks like the bee knees
for likes of myself who make control units. I will be looking at this system
for the future.

Why not use an old soundcard?  Or is this some complicated setup?

Would one of these work with a gameport MSFF wheel?

I believe it ises the midi pins for feedback.

Hi folks,

thanks for all the replies. I installed a new *NIC* in my windows
*** machine today (disabled the on-board one in the BIOS), and
haven't had a single GTR crash online since then. Now don't tell this to
anyone as it needs more testing, but if it turns out to be a solution,
they can keep their xp pro license and I'll squeeze some more life out
of my 98se rig yet ;-)

all the best & thanks again for your help,

uwe
