GPL, Gameport / USB converter problems

by Uwe Schürkam » Thu, 09 Dec 2004 02:38:22

Hi folks,

I just installed the Rockfire R-203 gameport to usb converter on my
machine. Most sims work reasonably well, but GPL refuses to recognize
the joystick axis (I have the rockfire set to 4 axes, 4 buttons).

The control panel calibration tool looks ok, but once I click on a
control function to assign in GPL's option screen, I don't get the red
text indicating to move the axis that the control is going to be
assigned to, it just goes sits there and does nothing.

Any ideas on this one? All the best & thanks in advance,

uwe

Try installing gplshift (not the alshift util). I believe the standard gpl
only recognises the first & last controller & may be restricted to 3 axis
per controller. The gplshift util /may/ allow you to get around that.

Ive gotten GPL to work with a rockfire adapter before. Just asking a stupid
question: When you calibrate the controller inside of GPL which I assume you
also are doing, does it calibrate properly there as well? My GPL calibration
screen splits the controller into two different screens. One for one axis,
and then you click an arrow in the bottom right corner and it lets you
calibrate axis two. Do you see the same thing and does it calibrate
correctly there?

Hi Malc,

thanks for your answer. I tracked down the problem to having to run
gem2+ again, somehow it "updated" my ini files so that I could assign
controllers again as usual. Somehow, this didn't work when I started
gpl via the desktop icon; I had to do it through gem2+.

All the best,

uwe

Odd, but at least you got it sorted ;-)
