Thank goodness Daytona is next week.

Las Vegas is another track where these cars handle terribly. Massive
understeer.

I finished third out of 32 in a race on one of the Papy open servers, mainly
because I was one of the few who didn't wash up into the wall or crash.

Why doesn't NASCAR use something called technology and make these cars
actually handle half decently?

David......everything you need to know about how these cars are "meant" to
handle can be learned by obtaining one very large, very powerful American
car and taking it out into the woods, or a field, and whomping the hell out
of it till it's dead. Stockers are heavy.....they feel heavy....and they
wallow around on their springs like the little doggy in the back window. The
only thing that could possibly be better than whomping on the aforementioned
car, would be 2 cars, and your best friend driving the other one. THEN you
got yourself a race!
And you gotta let off early into 1 at Lost Wages, and when you think it's
time to push the gas, wait...not yet...then push the gas down slowly and
smoothly till your straight again, down the back. 3 is all about not
crashing till you can get back on the gas thru 4. Works for me, YMMV

Were you using the fast setup?

I'm questioning my own ability to keep the car on the track for 107
laps.  My best time so far is 33.053, but that was REALLY pushing it
(for me).  It's tough to get a handle on the setup.

If you enter a turn to hot, and lift too suddenly, the rear end will
swing around on you.  If you ease it into the turn and get the left
front on the apron, it'll push into the wall.

And all of that is WITHOUT having traffic to deal with.  I hope
everyone's got their head screwed on straight tomorrow...

Because they'd rather use something called human input instead<G>  Sorry,
couldn't resist.  Btw, the key to being fast at Vegas is let off early, roll
through the corners, and blast out on exit.

It's actually a great track for green racing.

Yes, I was boss so I set the race to force the fast setup.

Pretty much what I experienced. Tires seem to go off pretty quickly too.

I predict bad, bad things. :-)

They don't need to completely redesign the cars, but how about just a 20%
improvement? :-)

I use that technique, but it just seems like another tedious track for these
cars.

Based on what I saw in that Papy race, I'm going to expect many yellows
tomorrow. I hope people relax for the first 2/3 of the race, and make their
passes early on the straights or there could be a lot of yellows. In
comparison, I had a fantastic Texas pick up race on a Papy server the other
day. Clean, tight racing for much of it.

They don't always feel like you describe though. It just seems to me there
are too many tracks like Homestead or Las Vegas where I'm driving around and
thinking, "What's the point?" Cars just handle badly at tracks like those.
At Texas or Lowes, they really are a lot of fun. Even Bristol and Dover are
pretty good.

Just ease up a little to the 33.4s - 33.6s range... makes a world of
difference. This isn't F1, ya know.

Oh, I know. That's why I finished third without one incident. The problem
was avoiding the Jan like chaos around me. ;-o

Why don't you lobby Papy to give us another 1/4-inch of rear spoiler...
:)

It's only tedious because of the setup.  If  we copuld make/use
something other than the fast setup, the cars would handly much more
predictably.

Lots of yellows unless Lord Eldred turns cautions off... :)

When I mentioned this last week it was pointed out that not everyone knows how
to make setups. I don't think anyone could make a setup more ill handling for
this track that <fast> :-)

Sheesh, what a bunch of whiners !  Anybody can drive a perfectly setup
car............adapt to the setup !!!!!  Quit trying to drive it like YOU
think it should/want it to be, and drive it is instead.

SUAD!!!!!!!   (Shut Up And Drive)  This ain't F1............the driver's
still required to do something with stockers !!!!!

I think the fast setups that come with the game are great, altho not
perfect.  Anything I would personally change to go faster would also
make the cars harder to drive for the most part.

So when are you going to get your Vegas fast-setup times down into the
32.7 range so we can have a race tommorrow? =)

Actually, Saturday is apparently girlfriend-day now.  Woo.  Hopefully
I can convince her to visit family or something some weekend so I can
race.
