Great shame John - you missed out on a real good race... Only 5 cautions!
That Las Vegas setup is a real bit** on cold tires... unsually take 2-3 laps
before you can truly "nail it" in the turns..
I had a pretty good race myself and ended up 6th - which probably could been
a whole lot better had I not screwed up my last stop and gotten 4 fresh
tires instead of just 2...meaning I had to complete the last 30 laps on 80
laps old left-side tries.
Anyhow.. results have been posted on the site.

Some good green flag runs there, I was pleasantly surprised.
And 21 racers, great turnout.

Can I join the moaners thread? <g>
Indeed, I inadvertantly put myself in a losing position at the occasion of
John's spin (no problem, John). From my point of view it appeared I didn't
hit him that hard, but I did receive serious engine damage. When I went to
get that fixed I fell foul of one of those "passing under yellow" bullshit
bf's one gets when pitting while on the speedway (and unsighted) the pack
backs up a bit.
When we went green again it was obvious I'd lost some 1000rpm off the top
end, but that didn't bother me much, what does bother me is that, by NASCAR
rules the team is allowed to work on the car when serving a penalty. I'm
sorry, but I have neither the agility of mind, neither the dexterity to turn
off changing tyres and refuelling when driving online. Anyhow, because I
couldn't see the needle on the tag clearly (wheel spoke in the way) I must
have sped a little, leading to a 2nd bf - drive through penalty (phew...
lucky the crew didn't get to do 3 four-tyre stops in 5 laps).
Anyhow, back on the speedway, determined not to repeat last week's DNF.
Things are going relatively smoothly, I can still run around 34s dead. Even
on the restarts there's a break to get to the top of the track (so I can get
out of the way more easily) relatively quickly.
I was doing just that on the high groove down the front straight when the 06
and the 45 tripped over eachother as they tried to pass me and eachother. I
was taken out by the accident and, though there was little apparent damage,
the engine was now dead.
Two races, two DNFs... this is year's campaign is going real swell. ;-(

just kidding bud :))
As for the slight damage to your car hurting your performance I am not surprised. N2003 has changed what damage really means.
You can barely scrape a wall, get a YES to fix in the F9 window, it take only a few seconds to repair it, see no visible damage on
even a fender after fixing it ... and your out of the race. It's like the horsepower monkeys ate all the bananas and ran for the
exits.

Hmmmm... I'll let that slide for now.
Yes and that's for the better, really. Just I felt like a little moaning.
That's what gets me a bit, but it wouldn't fixable damage be cosmetic
anyway? -So why sacrifice performance to actually make it that way?

1) real NASCAR drivers don't have an F2 screen, routinely pass drivers still
on the speedway when entering pit road after receiving damage and don't get
a penalty. Real officials know they can hardly look right and are gonna be
disadvantaged by remaining stationary for a long time anyway.
2) Like I said, I don't have the dexterity to fiddle with F-key screens when
I'm driving. The F2-screen, when set to showing instant intervals is a major
distraction. I don't want that in my peripheral vision as a matter of
course.
I'll look into mapping wheel buttons to these actions...

Actually you were passing Jan (17) and I (45) was passing you low. No problem
it happens. It was just surprising because we had so much room available. Sorry
it made Jan's bad day even worse. Didn't realize either until I watched the
replay how close Ginger came to getting into it.
