So far, I've only shifted in the corners when accelerating from the
position where I have to rest after I hit the outside wall.

Seriously, you shouldn't need to shift at vegas.

Lol, yeah, me too; I'm back to working 8-10 hours on Saturdays.  No Rascar
for me.

No, I'm not kidding.

I ran a test race there for ESCORS.
I run 33.24 as best, but there was a guy that was running low 32, so I
watched him from his***pit. He was shifting down when he just had finished
braking, and shifting up between apex and the wall.
So I guess that's the way to go. (If the gearbox can handle that many shifts
;-)

Hmm.  If I had a choice between having a girlfriend, and sim racing - I'd
gladly sell my computer.
I guess the grass is always greener...

I *like* Atlanta ans Lowe's.  I don't have enough laps on the other tracks yet
to have that strong of an opinion...<g>

Losing in sim racing is not nearly as annoying or painful  as losing in that
other game.

Trust me being single is as green as it gets ( pasturewise ).

O course YMMV.   ;o)

There are a couple of tracks that I should probably shift on, too.  My problem
is that I have to go so slow in the turns just to make it that the engine bogs
down.  And, since I'm running auto-shift, the trans doesn't always shft down in
time.  If I could carry the speed that others do, that wouldn't be an issue.

Turn off auto-shift and auto-brake - you'll be faster and *still* in
control of your car.  The only auto thing I have turned on is clutch.

It's okay to lug the engine - you can better avoid getting loose as you
accelerate, and it saves wear and tear on Papy's woefully fragile
transmission.  I only shift down if I'm trying to regain control of the
car(to avoid hitting the outside wall) after I've over-driven into the
turns.

BTW, most of the fast setups are geared wrong for shifting in the turns
at ovals without sacrificing a LOT of speed.

The only oval track I can think of that I shift at on purpose (with the
fast setup) are Martinsville and Indy.  There may be one or two others
but I honestly can't remember which ones.

Do you have an N2k2Rank?

What's your best time at Las Vegas?

Hey now, look at it this way.  Sim-racing is by far the cheaper of the
2 activities. :)

Yeah, I'm on NR2k rank, but I haven't updated it with my new times from
sears or vegas.

33.053, and that's*** it out there without regard for traffic.

I've found that tire wear and fuel consuption (not to mention car
control) are at their most efficient when I'm running 33.3's and 33.4's.
