I had to tell my girlfriend to start coming over at 7PM my time instead of
4PM, so I could race with you guys.
When she asked why she couldn't come over at 4, I said, because I'm racing
at 4, that's why. She comes over at 7:30 now.  :-)

But if she came over at 6:00, she would have time to clean the house and
have dinner waiting for you by the time the race was over.

The auto-shifting has been the only concession I've made.  I had to do that
because of the pull to the right.  It was difficult for me to be able to hold
the wheel correctly to go down the straight, but still be able to hit the shift
buttons.  In other sims, since I'm not shifting *in* the turns, it itn's an
issue.  When the tire stagger in N2002, that means I'm essentially in the turn
all the time(because I have to turn the wheel to the right).
In other words, I got tired of crashing while trying to shift, so I went to
auto trans...

Same here.  Turning on any of the driving assists besides auto-clutch
will hurt your lap times.  I'm sure papy did this on purpose...
thankfully.

Mart & Indy??? The ONLY oval I shift at is Pocono.  I suppose that you
could increase lap times in some of the other ovals by shifting with
auto-clutch on since you don't even need to lift.  However, in real
life shifting is not an advantage, otherwise the real guys would be
doing it.

What wheel do you use? I have the MSFF wheel and it is pretty easy to
shift using the built in shift buttons on the under-side of the wheel
(I know they have a name but I don't know what it is).  Besides with
auto-shift on you can' do the victory burn out.

I don't shift at Pocono at all (with the fast setup).  It worked out
well in the last Pocono race for me.  I only needed one pitstop when
everyone else needed two - fuel mileage and tire management won the day
for me.

Marty needs the downshift, and so does Indy (for me with the fast
setup).

I personally prefer analog wheels.  I don't need Force feedback, and
using buttons or paddles is just plain unnatural.

I don't think I could deal with the paddles, but I've never tried such a wheel.

TSW2mod.  The shift buttons are on the front of the steering wheel.  Easy to
hit with my thumbs while going straight, but not so easy in a turn.
