When VROC came out I used to run Windows 95c (OSR2.5) with an analog
57.6 Modem. Beside the known problems with an analog modem, attached
to a serial port, life was well. But I wanted more.....
So I decided to upgrade to ISDN. I bought an USB ISDN modem, and had
to upgrade to Windows 98. Then the problems started....
The problem.
I can connect to a host. The "Welcome!" message appears rather
smootly, and the choosen options (track, type of race) appears. I get
a green flag, to join the session. Normally, at this stage, the chat
"button" is flashing red/gold, to indicate that there are messages,
i.e. the names of the attached players, and their messages.
Also, you can normally see the amount of time left in the practice.
Nope, not for me. After a while, GPL times out, and disconnect. After
several tries, I succeed, and can join the session. When I am there, I
get no problems whatsoever. Solid connection, normal latency.
With some hosts this problem is worse then others. I can't find any
relation between a host and the problem.
I am puzzelled, what can I do to get rid of this problem? People are
starting to call me the disco kid :-( And I hate disco...
If someone (Randy? Eric?) can help me, please do.
