GPL screen corruption at high res

by Telbo » Fri, 24 Dec 1999 04:00:00

I'm running a Pentium 550Mhx and Voodoo3 2000 and GPL v1.2.0.1.  All is fine
at 640x480 but at high res the screen is corrupt with strange blocks all
over the screen and stripes on the track.  Anyone seen this before and any
ideas how to cure this ?

Regards

Terry

In Display ->Advanced->Voodoo3 check "Limit Texture Memory to 2MB" (I'm
typing from memory here as I am not at my regular computer).  That solved
the problem for me on my Voodoo3 2000.  You should get 36fps at 1024x768
most of the time.

If you get a better fan for your card and download an overclocking utility
you will be able to achieve even better results.  See http://www.tweak3d.net
for info and utilities.  My card is clocked all the way up to 175Mhz from
the default 144Mhz.  In GPL for me the detail slider is at 50% and
everything is checked with All objects in front and Cars and Track in the
mirrors.

Get the update patches for GPL, either 1.1 or 1.2, both will fix the problem
and add FF support (if you need it). Obviously 1.2 is better.

Get rast3dfx.dll in your root directory
