Thrustmaster Formula Force GT disappointment

Bought the Thrustmaster a couple of days ago and have been pretty
disappointed with it so far.
First of all, it's virtually impossible to use in GPL. The FF doesn't work
of course but the extra force it takes to round the tracks makes it useless
for any fast lapping. In Midtown Madness I just cannot get it to work
satisfactory. Naff force feedback effects and no setting does the game
justice (or the game doesn't do the wheel justice?) Viper racing isn't too
bad (not too good either..)
This is my first FF wheel and I bought this particular one cause it came far
better through the tests than Microsoft or Logitech wheels. So whats the
attraction of FF?  God knows.
Should have spent the money on something else I guess. Shame.

I don't know of any test that the Thrustmaster beat anyone in. Every review
Ive read, and it's damn near all, have the wingman as #1, and ACT Labs a
very close 2nd. In some reviews this is reversed. MS nearly always 3rd..
Thats when the wheels are tested head to head.

Randy Cassidy said the thrustmaster was horrendous when it came to utilizing
the CPU effeciently. In a word, the Thrustmaster Force sux.

I have also a Thrustmaster FF GT. And overall I'm satisfied with th FF effects
in MGPRS and SCGT. Concerning TOCA2 the FF is bad. You can only feel the car
shaking. But can you explain me how you get GPL running with this wheel? When I
start GPL i see the startup-screen and after a while the program returns to the
desktop. I've received a mail that the wheel reports 16 axes and GPL can not
handle 16 axes, only 8.

I thought GPL did not yet implement FF?

I cannot really tell why my wheel works and yours doesn't. What I do know is
that for some time I have been running a pirated copy of GPL cause the one I
officially bought (honest!) tells me all the time to insert the original
disk or something. Having tried a patch which didn't help I finally turned
to the copy which has been working fine up to now! Ironic isn't it! Maybe
this has something to do with the fact the wheel works with mine and refuses
to work with yours. I have heard talk of the wheel not responding to the
game.
As mine worked from the start one does not delve any deeper in the matter.
But perhaps there is somebody out there with the answer. Or maybe that long
awaited patch?
Greetings,

Hans.

I bought the same wheel, and at first I was very disapointed with it's
performance. Even the drivers supplied with the wheel didn't seem to
work very well. I started to search for some new thrustmaster divers but
instead I found the i-force reference drivers. I downloaded them at:

http://www.force-feedback.com/iforce/downloads/drivers.zip

And to my surprise the wheel was performing a LOT better. Forces became
logical, they matched what happened on the screen! Well anyway, try them
and see for yourself.

Heb je misschien toch geen kat in de zak gekocht ;-)

Greetings
