F1RS Realism!

by Jean-Marc Serr » Mon, 29 Jun 1998 04:00:00

Like many people my F1RS racing follow the real F1 season. So I am
racing at magny-cours, and can qualify at around 1.16.3 plenty good
enough for getting pole at the "pro" level.  I have problems at the last
turn on the race track, which I take at around 115km/h, It is easy to
loose the back end of the car trying to accelerate too fast out of that
turn when trying for an extra-fast lap. It is really frustrating to
loose completely the car just at the end.....

Well today (Saturday 27 June) I am watching the real qualifications at
Magny-Cours. At the end Coulthard is
trying to beat the time of Shumacher (which is second).....he lost the
back of his car in that last turn in exactly
the same way......

F1RS is not perfect, but in this case I think it's damn close!

Sorry for the repetitions. I tried to post this message several time,
because the
computer kept telling me, there was no contact with our mail server!

F1RS Realism!

Well, no point in posting it again as you should be using a NEWS
server, not a mail server. Try news.newusers.questions for some
common answers on the topic of usenet.

BTW on the point of F1RS, I've been playing it for two weeks now, and I like
the physics model more and more, but people, the menu system must have been
designed by ***s on *** or something. Why the heck do I have to
re-load the car setup if I go back to main menu, change some settings and
re-enter the track? Why do I does the whole track have to be reloaded when
changing the setup? Isn't a 200mhz CPU, 48MB of RAM and 250mb of hd space
enough these days? Why is changing between menus so slow, let alone the
replay so it's rendered near-useless?

That's the only gripes I've had with F1RS so far, apart from that it's
a great game.

Cheers for now,

Uwe.

Correct. Anyone who says F1 cars do not fish tail, are full
of ***and just trying to cause trouble. Check out Mika
trying to pass Irvine on the last corner of the last lap...

Alot of the "fishiness" in F1 today is due to the smaller/grooved tires.
I recall Derek Bell saying early on this season how nice it was to see
this "twitchiness" come back to F1.

Naaah sorry m8, F1RS isnt close to GP2... the car is too sluggish on
handling, GP2 portrays the cars nervous characterisctics alot better.....

What?? GP2 is like driving a semi that corners, F1RS is much
tougher.... you changed any setups??

You must be joking,Gp2 handling is far easier than F1rs.....I could race
fast with Gp2 with a joystick....F1rs is so real it needs a steering
wheel....maybe Gp3 will be better...lets hope so becuase Gp2 is hoplessly
out classed by F1rs....IMHO.
