If you don't like the user interface to F1RS (which I don't actually mind) what
about GP2? That has the worst UI of any program (sim or otherwise) I have ever
seen. The graphics are also appalling. But I take your point about reloading the
settings - it catches me out every time. Install the large version to speed up
menu and track loading, but I guess with only 250Mb of disk your a bit strapped.
