<SNIP>
I suspect it's a case of "too much of the same thing" -- you've
probably learned too many "bad" habits at this point, and now you've
hit a pleateu because you can't get move past what you've
already "learned." I've found that sometimes just getting away from
any given sim and doing something else for a while (including even --
GASP! -- going on vacation and NOT doing any sim racing for a week or
so) can actually cause more improvements than hour after hour of
practice. After playing DTR my times improved in GPL; after playing
NFSPU, my times improved in GPL; after playing F12K, my times improved
in GPL. Sometimes you learn things in other sims, and getting away
from GPL for a while gives you a chance to "un-learn" what you know and
get back to basics when you return. When you do what comes naturally,
as opposed to what you've "learned" to do (sometimes unnaturally), then
things sometimes seem to flow a bit better, and that's where you make
improvements and learn new techniques.
