Hm, coincidentally I wondered about that too..

Happened to try the NR2k3 demo for my OS X Mac a few days ago and
immediately noticed the cars were a lot easier to get round the track
than those in N4.

At least the Easy setups seem a lot more Easy!  (Haven't tried it with a
wheel yet but I guess using a keyboard isn't exactly making things more
comfortable to handle..)

I'd care about a career mode if it didn't suck complete and total ass.

The IIgs sound chip did onboard sampling and had analog filters?

Not that I'd be surprised (look at how awesome the Sid can be) but
that seems a bit off from my memory.

GTR
Richard Burns Rally

I'm 99% certain GTR will rock, and 100% certain RBR will at least be
the best rally sim ever (I can't say for sure how good it will be, but
it has a more impressive feature-list than Mobil 1 =).

The onboard GTR video done at Anderstorp is awesome, as is the Spa one
(granted the latter is in arcade mode).  Seeing properly modelled
tracks in an ISI engine is really nice, I hope the F1-used ones are at
least partly backwards compatible with F1C.

The physics are a bit shoddy (I'd put it somewhere around GP3 and 4,
i.e. primitive but with convincing car characteristics) but the
experience of driving a rally in that sim is unlike anything else
that's been released.

And GPL...  I dunno, I love it, I reinstall it and do a few laps from
time to time, but the sound/graphics engine is horribly antiquated and
the physics were vastly superceded by N2003 (well, and N2002).  I wish
to hell Papy would make a new open wheel sim, because the thought of a
GPL car that doesn't feel like it has 5,000lbs springs and wooden
tires is so appealing.

Hahaha, you are too stupid to know when you are being played with.
I've never downloaded any setup for NT2004.

Yeah, but then I couldn't use it im my MIDI setup...<g>
I don't think it would be that easy anyway, but nice idea.

Is the career mode in NT2004 that bad?  I picked up a copy for $20, but I
haven't had time to install it yet.

I said I prefer to download setups but in fact I have never downloaded
one for NT2004. How I play the game is my business, wich game I prefer
is my business too. The only idiot here are people that measure their
manhood by how hardocre a game is. We are talking a *game* you moron,
play what you like and STFU.

I miss the old days. Things were much more exciting around here. :-)

BTW, I saw what you said about me over at rasf1 a few weeks ago. :-o

In your message subject, you did ask for opinions on the best *sim* didn't you?
Some like to play *sims*, while others prefer to play *games*.
There is a difference.

It's worse than NT2003/2004 for the xbox/ps2, and those don't really
redefine depth in management simulations.

Simplicity aside, the play balancing is ridiculous in career mode.  I
can't help but think no one tested the game at any point during its
development.
