What my point was in calling it an arcade game, is that is the
audience that it was targetted for.  The difference is that with setup
in NT2004, yes you can feel some difference between them, but it is
not as realistic as a true sim oriented game like NR2003.  There is
nothing wrong with NT2004, I like the game, but it is geared more to
an arcade type audience, because the younger generation nowadays want
something to pop in and play right off, they don't want something that
they have to take the time to master as much as NR2003 or GPL.  NT2004
isn't a bad game, and me calling it an "arcade" game didn't mean it's
a bad game.  I play the game, and yes it is truly an "arcade" style of
game, not a sim.

OK, are you talking about the PC version or the console version? You
do know that the PC version is developed by the ISI who did the F1
series for EA and the console version is developed by Tiburion, right?
I admit that NT2004 has some elements to make things easier, such as
the icon to follow the pace car, auto pitting etc. but they are all
optional. I don't know much about the setups as I'm a driver and not a
mechanic and prefer to download setups or use the ones the game comes
with. I like the carreer mode of NT2004 too. Only thing missing for me
is the save option during a race, which NR2003 doesn't have either.
The actual driving experience feels as much to me a sim as NR2003
though. But then I've never drivin the real thing so it comes back to
my original comment that it is a matter of taste. And I'll leave it at
that.

Yes it is.  Just ask any real-life Winston Cup, Busch or Truck division
driver.  They all use NR2003 if they want to sim.  Unless it's for
endorsment$$$$$$.  Of course what do they know more than you?

Yea, well, they know*** all about what makes a game fun, and NR2003
ain't it.

If NR2003 wasn't fun, why would they be driving it whenever they can online
during the week?  Many of them pass entire nights racing online.

Sorry, just admit that they know more then you (and me).  NR2003 is a
superior title, by far.  Way far.

So true.  NT2004's physics, FF engine etc. certainly feels much more complex
and involving to drive than N2003's but that's where it ends.  N2003 while
not quite as advanced under the hood is -far- more polished and delivers a
much more convincing and enjoyable all-round nascar experience.

Just to be a name dropper...on Thursday night's WindTunnel on Speed,
they had Martin Truex Jr on the show.  He runs Dale Earnhardt Jr's car in
the Busch series. (#8)   And he answered an email question saying both he
and Dale Jr use the Papyrus, Sierra product Nascar Racing 2003 Season.
According to him, it was the best one out there.
So no internet rumours, no haphazard guessing.  Nr2k3 was the choice.
Of course what he didn't say was. that tg was the devil...eh WHAT?  wrong
topic!!
Sorry that will never <tg spelled backwards is...> Whoops...meandering
again.

Yes, that would now make for a good 3 pack.

On sale this week at EB - Uncle Jim's big 3 pack - Cart Precision
Racing, Nascar Thunder 2004 and Bollocks.

Ah, now we get to the truth. They prefer it because NR2003 has much
superior MP capabilities. But don't sit their and try to BS me and
tell me the driving model is superior.

I knew me saying the following would bring out the racing kooks. ;-)

"I should have said this one is a matter of taste because I personally
prefer EA's Nascar Thunder 2004 (PC version) but I knew that would get
howls of derision here and N2003 by Papyrus is considered the best by
most."

You have to turn off all steering help or it will never seem right.
Ditto for most of the other "driving aids", except for traction
control, which I leave at the "low" setting.

I found the same thing was true in GP4.  Turn off all steering help
and suddenly it was responsive and the FF actually works.  Strange.

YMMV.

I am talking about the PC version.  I don't care who it is developed
by or anything.  The game is not a sim.  It's that simple.  I drive
Late Model Stock at my local short track, and sorry to dissapoint
you, but NT2004 not even close to physics, the physics of NT2004 are
easy to drive, thus an arcade game, not a realistic sim.  If you want
realistic racing, you choose NR2003.  99% Of the people on this board
will agree.  I don't give a shit about a career mode...I don't like
that.  I wan't to race with my own designed setup, not one I
downloaded off the internet, and frankly, the only time it is
realistic is with NR2003.  NT2004 is not a sim, and was never designed
to be, if it was, why was it released on console? Because it is an
arcade game, very simple, but hard for some to grasp.
