BAPOM
Alternative Program Covers for GPL

I haven't tried them, but I was told that they need to have a few small
additions to work in multiplayer.
That review is only for 0.9.6 . I think 0.9.9 is a considerable
improvement over it.....
Fun; yes.
GPL; most certainly not!
Bruce.
Have you tried the latest release? I dont think anyone could reasonably
suggest that it's inferior to GPL anymore.
Doug
Subjective opinion, obviously, and I really *want* to enjoy NetKar. But
if I switch from NetKar to LFS (a fairer comparison than GPL perhaps)
then the cars immediately feel more... er, in touch with real tarmac.
Whatever that means.
After posting my initial reactions to this latest release I am trying to
give it a fair crack of the whip. But at the moment we're talking wet
tea-towel rather than cat o' nine tails.
If a paypal button were to appear on Stefano's site I would contribute
something though. It deserves encouragement.

<Shrug> I really don't understand it when people say things like this. In
the grand scheme of sims, Netkar probably feels more similar to LFS than any
other sim out there from where I sit.... In terms of being 'in touch with
the tarmac' that has been my only criticism of Papy games over the years.
F1C was a considerable step forward in that department and Netkar and LFS
excel there too IMO.
I gave the Modena 27 laps at Falkenberg last night to try and force myself
to like it,but still not convinced

Okay, enough of this: we get the point. I still see LFS as a much better
racing simulation, whether it's free or not. So if we're looking for the
new GPL, then LFS is it.

I like the fact you can change the screen resolution without having to
run some daft 3d config thing like you have to in N2k3 and F12k2! The
controller config is good too, and puts the GP3/4 crammond shite to
shame. The GUI is hassle free, unlike F12001/2. I'd like to see support
added for actlabs shifter and an analog clutch, though.
IMO this sim looks very promising indeed!
Gerry
Strange. I get the opposite impression.
Sliding is not as catchable as in GPL, depending on which car you're driving
(especially once you go past a certain slip angle). Are you sure this isn't
what you're referring to?

I love both - but I just can NOT see where you might imagine that LFS is the
'new gpl' -
