special is that it simulates one of the most interesting years in F1
history. And allthough N2003 for example is technically 10x better
than GPL, it can't keep me interested in the way GPL does.
But anyway, this evening I downloaded and tested both LFS and Netkar.
LFS: Personally I find LFS quite boring. I don't get a sensation of
speed at all and controlling the car is very easy. The graphics look
great, but with 5 other AI cars in front of me the AI drops with about
40% :-/ Maybe LFS is more fun when you unlock the faster cars, I did
so with the first release of LFS, but the only thing I can remember
about that is that I quickly grew tired of LFS so I can't really
bothered to go through the unlocking fase now.
Unless someone can convince me that LFS really gets a lot more
exciting with the faster cars..
Netkar: Gave it a try a couple of months ago, can't remember which
release version it was. I was impressed, but not enough to keep it on
my HD. After reading good things about the new version I installed it
(most easy installation I ever had in a racing sim btw), selected the
F3000 and Falkenberg, and waited a couple of seconds for the whole
bunch to load.
I gave gas and WHOOOOOAAAAAAA HOLY ****** ! That sound! That sensation
of speed!!! Very, very impressed with Netkar. The last time I had such
a big grin on my face was the first time I played GPL ;)
LFS is in a further stage of development than Netkar, but Netkar shows
so much more long-term promise.. I'm sure the West Bro's weren't happy
when they saw what one hobbyist programmer delivered here ;)
Please guys.. tell me the Ring has allready been converted to
Netkar???
