If you do.....how to you instal both?

when I install the sidewinder software, it replaces the
Thrustmaster Wheel software & vice-versa.  How can I install
both in W95?  Do I need to get a "joyswitch" and if so, anyone
know where they are available. I couldnt find any in the stores
near me.

As far as I have know, it can't be done.  (Or at least can't be done so that
it is simple to switch from one to the other)  I have to reinstall and
recalibrate each when I want to use them.  (Sidewinder gamepad and
Thrustmaster T2 wheel)  Maybe try going the USB route?  I *think* that you
can just have both plugged in without having to recalibrate or anything?
Only problem being, you have to have a USB gamepad and wheel.  =)

USB will not help but the solution is this great program from
CH Products: ftp://ftp.chproducts.com/pub/QJsetup.exe
It allows you to select different active joystick without
reinstall/calibration. At least it works great between these
3 joysticks: Logitech Wingman Force USB, Thrustmaster GP1 2-axis
and Thrustmaster GP1 with 3-axis modification.

This is the beauty of the ActLabs Force RS wheel.  Is doesn't use
gameport on your soundcard, and instead uses the serial port.
I have a MS force joystick and the Force RS wheel plugged in
at the same time.  Nice solution, IMHO, and one that the
reviewers don't point out.  Kinda odd that the Force RS
web page doesn't point that out either, so it could be a bummer
if somebody doesn't have a spare 9-pin serial port available.

Actually I doubt the software is "replaced".  However, Win95 will only
see the device selected as ID #1.  Get Thrustmaster's ProPanel applet
and use it to select your device (remember it must be ID #1), and it
should "remember" the calibration for you.  At least then you will only
need to select and not have to recalibrate.

I was surprised when I found out that my Force RS wheel needed the serial
port for hookup.  I already had my DexDrive hooked to the serial port.  I
bought the Logitech Formula Force USB instead.
Also, can I hook up the sidewinder gamepad to the gameport, since my wheel
is USB?

sorry, but that program didnt work.
ALl that program is is a quick access icon to the
joystick icon in the control panel.  It doesn't really
do anything you cant already do.  But my problem isn't
switching between controllers. My problem is that I can't
seem to install more that 1 at a time between the Thrustmaster
wheel and the MS Sidewinder.  I think this mat be because
I only have 1 gameport.  My last resort is to get a "joyswitch"
I think.  But thanks anyway.  I can't believe noone else has this
problem out there ???

No, it's not just a quick access icon. You have to add your
joystick via it's add/remove joystick and after that you can
connnect a different stick and select it directly from
Quickjoy's menu, once you have your joysticks set (so that they
show it Quickjoy's menu) you don't have to open control panel's
joystick icon again.
So add one joystick, configure it and then add another,
configure it and both should be selectable via the program's
popup menu. And add Quickjoy to your Windows startup-group.
And also remember to read the manual quickjoy.rtf
It works great also with my friends Sidewinder Pad with Logitech
Wingman plugged into Sidewinder's extra joyport. He just presses
Sidewinders off/joyselect button and after that selects
a different joystick via the Quickjoy program.

I have a TM Nascar Pro in the game port and a MS Sidewinder Pro USB in the USB
port. Under Windows control panel, the wheel is "device #2, and the joystick is
#1. No changes/calibrations neccesary as long as I play NASCAR/ICR/GP2 in DOS
and joystick games in WIN95. It is neccesary however, to re-select the wheel as
#1 if I need to use it for a Windows type game. The advantage of USB is that
the joystick never needs re-calibration. You will need WIN 98 for any USB
devices. Good luck.  Chuck

that's exactly right......it gives you quick access to the joystick applet
in the control pane.   Using the quickjoy's add/remove is no dofferent that
the
control panel.  My problem is that I cant add both using this method.  I
have to run
the Sidewinder install software or the Thrustmaster install software to add
either
one, and then whichever one I install removes the other one that was there.

I would love too..........but I cant seem to figure out a way to add both.

It's not right since when you have added your joysticks they are
listed in Quickjoy's menu above "add/remove joystick" and you
just plug-in the correct joystick and select it from that menu.
Have you tried to add just a driver for your joystick and
not install the whole software package. Only drivers are needed
for the joysticks to work.

yes, I havr tried this, but I don't know what the driver file is
for either the MS SIdewinder or the Thrustmaster Wheel.
When you go to add a joystick, and pick "have disk", it is looking
for a ".inf"  file, and I have no idea where the right file is.
Can you help?

Why do you pick "have disk"? If you have once installed your
joysticks the drivers should be already be in your system
so just select the joystick from the list and calibrate it.
If the correct name is not listed select "custom" and modify it.

Jack, this just occurred to me.  The old INF files for the Sidewinder and
Wheel should both still be on your hard drive, even if they are removed from
the listing when you install the other software.  It's probably in a hidden
directory named:

C:\WINDOWS\INF

You should then (in theory) be able to add them manually without the
software by going to the joystick controller and clicking "Add" then "Add
Other" then "Have Disk" and type in the path.  You'll have to guess on the
INF name, but most of them follow a logical naming pattern.  Or you could
find the INF name by running the installation program until it pauses, and
then switch back to windows and use explorer to browse your TEMP directory
and you should be able to see it.

If this doesn't help, I don't know what else will :)
