ICR2: video lock-ups

by Wolfgang Prei » Tue, 16 Jun 1998 04:00:00

Hi all,

I think I remember reading about this problem before, but I couldn't
find the relevant articles in dejanews. Please tolerate me asking this
question again:

I sometimes encounter video lock-ups in ICR2. It happens only on a few
tracks, usually (but not exclusively) in multiplayer, and always on
the same section of the track. The video freezes while the car (and
sim) are still running. I can hear the car hitting the wall; my
opponent can drive on. Sometimes I can even drive the car to the
finish line in "instrument flight" ;) (my brother telling me from the
other room where and when to brake and steer.) All this time, the
screen displays the same frame. The sim still reacts to all inputs,
only the video is frozen.
This behavior occurs, among other tracks, in Australia, Mid Ohio and
the converted Indy track. I tried reducing the graphics options which
seemed to help, but yesterday the picture froze on lap 96 of 100 in
Indianapolis... Annoying, to say the least.
ICR2 is patched to the newest version; I'm running the standard DOS
version on a P166 with a 2MB Trio graphics card.
Any hints as to how to cure this problem?

Hmmmm I don't have the real answer but....

Did you tried reinstalling UnivBe ?
Did you tried to reinstall the whole game (backing-up some stuff)
Do you have the most recent video drivers of your card ?

Btw... ;-)   try to reinstall the video driver that you have presently.
Sometimes they may have been corrupted by other installed program (God I
hate all those demos for that reason).

I made my possible to help you ;-)
