Will Voodoo3 improve GPL framerates?

Do any of you computer knowledgable people know if upgrading from a Voodoo2
accelerator card to a Voodoo3 card will significantly boost the framerate in
GPL?  I have a PII 300 with 96 ram.  I'm just seeking general opinions on this
question.  Before I go out and buy a Voodoo3.

Thanks,

James

From what I have learned so far from this newsgroup GPL is locked to never
allow more thatn 37 FPS. a Voodoo3 will allow you mantian that if are
currently getting that yet allow you to run in higher resolutions which of
course is great if you have a 19" or 21" monitor

I have a Voodoo 3 2000 which replaced a Voodoo 2 SLI set-up (each with
12Mb). The V2 cards gave sometimes 36fps with all details on, but only 14/18
fps at race start. The V3 gives 36fps all the time except about 26/28 fps if
you are at the back of the grid like me at the start. My system is a PII
with 128 Ram and 17" monitor. I have recently overclocked my V3 card from
the default 143Mhz to 155Mhz (anything higher locked up eventually, esp.
during a long race), and this gave a little extra speed.

On my 450a it boosted them enough to allow a higher resolution and more detail, but not to put that
slider all the way over to the right.

Mind you, I like a *solid* 36fps, especially online. If you can put up with startline, crash, and busy
corner drops, full detail racing at 1024x768 is amazing... and 1280x1024 isn't too shabby either!

Oh, I bought a (cheap) V3 2000 AGP. With an old fan attached it runs very solidly at 175MHz rather
than it's default 143, but even at 143 for me it was a cheap evolutionary step for GPL which has also
revolutionised games like Unreal (1280x960 at about 30fps is absolutely amazing) and the Q3Test.

Having said all that, the V2 was very good at 800x600, and given the number of new cards out now
or very soon this is a *great* time to wait a few more weeks for prices to settle and drivers to
mature.

Hi. I also have a Vodoo3 2000, and I'm having problems with the textures. Some
are
just plain wrong, or all messed up. Have you ever had this problem?

My system: PIII 450, 128 MB, Vodoo3 2000 AGP, GPL 1.0.0.0

Greetings

Folco

Just forget it, I found a ton of messages about it...

I had been away from this NG for far too long!
