GP2 problem : No mouse in DOS session (Win95)

by Pete » Sat, 27 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I have been trying to run GP2 from a DOS session on my P166 by re-starting from
Windows 95.  When I do this, I have no mouse control in the menus.  I've looked for
a DOS mouse driver but I don't seem to have one anywhere in Windows 95.

I've noticed a number of other posts from people who have re-stared in DOS mode and
they seem to have no problems.  Can anyone who has done this help, please?

It may be a trivial problem, but I'm new to Win95.

Pete,

I had the same problem at first.  This is what I did:

Check the properties of 'Grand Prix 2' icon that was created on the
install.

'Program' tab, 'Advanced' button.

I changed the check box from 'Suggest MS-DOS mode as necessary' to
MS-DOS.

Select the 'Specify a new MS-DOS configuration',  I added the
following lines to it:  (to load Microsoft Mouse driver)

set mouse=c:\mouse
c:\mouse\mouse.exe /q

hope this is helpful!

Thanks to all the guys who replied to me on this.  I now have a mouse driver up
and running!   Now back to those not-so-hot laps :-)

You need a DOS mouse driver. There is one on the GP2 CD, in
utils\mouse. Just run mouse.com before running GP2 and away you go.
