For GP2: How do I set up MS Mouse to work in DOS

by dbm » Wed, 04 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I've got Grand Prix 2 working OK in Windows 95 but would like to run
it under DOS.  (I understand performance is improved.)

When I run under DOS I no longer can use my MS Mouse.  It's nice to
have the mouse available for making menu selections.  What's the best
way to set this up?  I've just created a floppy boot diskette which
works OK but doesn't load a mouse.

Thanks....

When you go to Dos mode you have to put the mouse to work under Dos,
before you enter the program. Try type "mouse" (assuming that's the
mouse program you're using) before GP2

I'm not sure about WIN 95 but in WIN 3.11 you just add your mouse driver
in you autoexec.bat file!
The mouse driver should be a COM file and found in a directory called
MOUSE or in your WINDOWS directory.

I'm looking to get away from short % races and looking for races where you
need alteast 2 pit stops.  A Hawaii Online league is really what I'm
looking for.

Can anyone help me?

You'll find a bunch of online leagues if you follow the Series hyperlink in
the message of the day when you sign on to Hawaii. You can also check out
the Late Night website (which is a Hawaii series) and follow the links
there to other series. Also, I think Alex's Hawaii Sportscenter has a bunch
of links. Try http://www.iconn.net/aknascar/hotnews.html

In one of the directory's on the GP2 cd there is a mouse driver called
mouse.com.  Just copy this file over to your hard drive in your windows
directory and when you exit to dos just type mouse and it will load it up
before you start the game.
