GP2 Sound problem in DOS

by Randy Wils » Thu, 24 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Anybody else encounter "warbilly" music in GP2 when running under DOS?

I have;
P133
i430VX generic motherboard - which I am unable to overclock :(
SB16

I used to have a P75 & old Triton MB and did not have this problem
(got tired of playing at 15 FPS).

Is there a DMA setting on the MB or SB card that needs to be set so
that the music plays properly?

The music plays fine when I run the game under Win95 but I think I
take a hit on the FPS.

Not a big problem, I know, but it would be nice to get it fixed.

Thanks

Let me take a wild guess. . .   Could you have an Award BIOS?  If so, I
would look into get the most recent BIOS flash for your motherboard.
This sounds like an old problem with early version of the Award BIOS for
the HX/VX chipsets.

Is your CD-ROM hooked up to your soundcard or the IDE on your
motherboard?

Thanks, I'll try that.

Both, IDE cable to board via HD and a 2 (?) pin connector to the
soundcard.
