GP2 in DOS mode problem

by Bulldaw » Sun, 20 Oct 1996 04:00:00

When I try to run gp2 in dos, I get a "cd-rom/mscdex not detected.  I've
got a cd-rom and I'm able to play in win95, but I'd rather use dos.  I
installed the game using the MS-DOS command in win95.  Any suggestions?

Hi,
When the computer re-boots into DOS, you need to load your MS-DOS cd-rom
drivers. To do this, you need to install the setup disks that came with
your cd-rom.  These should create two files in your root directory -
autoexec.bat and config.sys. These files will contain the commands to
load your dos drivers at startup.

you can install the "nocdrom" file for GP2 , then it dosen't check for
the CD. Get it at -

Where is the cdrom-drive letterdefined in the gp2? After I installed
another HD in my computer (the cd -driveletter changed from e: to j: )
gp2 couldn't find the CD anymore (in fact I got the same cd-rom/mscdex
not detected -message as mentioned above). Finally I had to install the
whole game again. Fortunately I managed to get the save-game-state-files
etc. from the old directory. Is there really no way of "telling" the
program
where the cd-drive lies.

If you reinstall the game, it will locate the new drive letter for the
CD.  Also look in the gp2 directory, there is a very small file named
f1system.dat. If you open this file you will see where it thinks the CD
is, just change the drive letter there and it should work  ( back up the
file first )

Also if you read the readme file ( .txt ) there is a switch you can use
whne you start gp2 to tell it where to look for the CD. Something like
this :
gp2 cddrive:J
