I'm beginning to feel like a big fat freakin' idiot here...these are the
reasons why I always played the Win95 version.
Anyways...if I run ICR2 in a DOS box, I get joystick support (YAY!) and
sound support. Unfortunately, I cannot configure my controls without
interference from the mouse (BOOH!). I can use the default controls
included for joysticks, but that means that the wheel steers, pushing up on
the shifter accelerates, hitting the brake is reverse, and I have to use the
keypad to shift. Not an ideal situation.
If I try to run ICR2 in DOS mode, then I cannot use the sound because it
hangs on the initializing digital sound bit before it boots into the game.
The game setup program identifies it as a SB16 using port 220, IRQ 5 and DMA
1. It's actually a SBLive! Value, but the SB16 compatibility mode uses
these values (but also has a high DMA of 5...no place to spec that in the
setup), so it looks good. Is there some secret to getting a SBLive! card to
work with this in DOS mode, or is it a lost cause? If anybody has done it,
I'd like to hear how.
Or, barring that, could somebody please email me a copy of their
CONTROLS.CFG file that is set up for a Thrustmaster Nascar/Formula Pro? I
could just replace the default file with the correct one and be ready to
roll in a DOS box...
Thanks for all your past help, hoping for some future help now...
