GPL/GForce graphics card problem

by Alan Pengell » Fri, 24 Oct 2003 20:06:51

Hi All

I've just upgraded my PC with a GForce NVidia card (high spec). However,
I can't get GPL to load (says something about not being able to find an
avi app. I tried running GPL (old config) and the graphics look awful.
I'm sure I'm not the first to encounter this problem, can anybody help?
Must admit, I'll be really gutted if I can't run GPL!

Cheers

Alan

I run gpl on a Gf4200 with no problems using the updated OpenGL rasteriser
here:

Check you have updated your core.ini (not essential for it to work, but
it'll look better) in particular you need to make sure it's not still
called core.ini.sample.

You will need to uncheck the 'hide file extensions for known file types'
box in folder options to see this.

These are my OpenGL settings in the Core.ini:

[ Int Profile Values ]
value0 = OpenGL:DisableZBuffer:0                  ; do not change
value1 = OpenGL:MipFiltering:0                    ; do not change
value2 = OpenGL:MirrorsEvery:0                    ; do not change
value3 = Direct3D7:D3DDevice:0                    ; do not change

[ OpenGL ]
TossHighestMip = 0
MipFiltering = 4
MirrorsEvery = 1

I run 8x Aniso filtering & 4x FSAA in the display properties too at
1152x864. Looks very nice & 36fps everywhere. I don't race the AI though.

imo on an nVidia card OpenGL is best, but you could try the D3D rasteriser
too & see which you prefer. I get font glitches with D3D.

If this doesn't solve your problem try running in software mode to see if
the problem lies elsewhere.

Many thanks Malc, I'll try these tonight.
