Eldred,

What's the story with your full-length VROC races?  Invite only?  RAS celebs
only??  Aliens only??? ;-)

The deal is, show up in VROC, join the race and try to keep it on the black
stuff for as many laps as you possibly can, while, ideally, not taking out
any other drivers in the process.

As Jan said, show up and join.  We haven't passworded any races yet.  When(if?)
we run Monaco, that will probably be passworded and by invitation...

Oh man :(
In lap 7 or so I made an error which caused my car to spin.. someone
overtook me and I was 2nd. Took me a couple of laps to gain up on him
and on lap 14 I finally managed to pass him after a nice duel..

And then, one second after I passed him, my engine blew up.. luckily
the guy behind me managed to avoid me.

Good race though, full grid was nice. Shame to see Jan and Jens
leaving on the first lap :( Crash at start or something?
I think I won't take the Lotus again for the next full GP race..

It was a great battle thanks Andre.  I was watching you gain on me every
lap, but thanks to my long 5th gear (I'm glad I changed my setup just before
the race) I could just hold you off down the straights until I made a
mistake then you were past in a flash.  Shame it didn't last though, I was
looking forward to continuing the battle.  It did get a bit dull after your
engine blew, but the 2nd place driver (sorry, I forgot your name) wasn't
giving up, so I still had to keep the gap constant between us.  Just when I
thought I had it in the bag - DISCO!

Oh well roll on the next race.

With 4 laps to go you told me - that really sucks.. but you figured
that out yourself I guess :)

Spa was quite hard for a full GP race, that right hander after Masta
(Stavelot?) is quite *** the revs if you take it at maximum
speed.. and I did that a couple of times so I could gain on you.
Bad idea, especially in a Lotus :-/

Yup, good race, see you at the Ring.

Btw.. what happened to the car that was leading in the first place,
Ferrari, Andrew something?

Oh and Eldred.. I really think you should password the race next
time..2 places were lost now with people who only wanted to practice
and left on purpose just before the race started.
A shame since other people did want to join the race.

Yeah ;oP
I must remember to reconnect at the end of practice because I must have gone
over the 2 hour mark with my ISP.

I'm slow at Spa (compared to other circuits) because it's my least favourite
circuit - I just get bored on those straights.  I actually realised that I
wasn't even using the breaks in stavelot, which is probably why you could
gain so much on me there.

No chance of getting bored there ;o)

2 hour mark with your ISP.. err.. how about switching to a different
ISP? Anyway, another reason to password the race then.. I had to
reboot during quali and had a hard getting getting back in the race,
it was full when I had rebooted. Had to press reconnect a zillion
times before I could get back in.

No, I don't use brakes either there.. difference between practice and
the real race is that during practice I drop down gears while still at
a high rev.. dropping the gear makes the car pull a bit into the
corner, helping a lot at Stavelot.
Baaaad for the engine though :-/

Well that straight at the Ring is long and boring too :)

Am I the *only* one who brakes at Stavelot...?

At least two who I met in VROC when I left the race after an hour.
And I was simply lucky to be able to get back into the race when I had
to reboot.
Then the fact that two people bailed out on purpose just before the
race started gets even more annoying :(

Andre,

I got into practice with about 20 minutes left and did 2 to 3 laps before I
realized that I hadn't turned off the Firewall logging. Exited and came back
in with 19 racers in practice, me being the 20th. It did take me a few
reconnects to enter back onto the server, maybe we were dicing for the last
two spots?

I thought it was a full field at the start of the race?

I wished GPL would have a little more time between practice and race as I
have been caught with the wrong fuel load a couple of times for some of the
longer races. :-(

And that would give time for late entries too wouldn't it? A little more
"Transition" time?
