It runs just fine for me. You will need to enable file indexing for the GPL
folders, but you don't actualy have to use the indexing service.

No problem at all. The only issues, as far as I'm aware, is if you
have a Sounblaster Live sound card. This sound card in conjunction
with certain motherboards will cause very distorted and crackly sound.

My SB Live was working fine in Win98, but then I upgraded to Windows
XP and had the distorted sound. After changing to a Sounblaster Audigy
however GPL is running sweet as a nut.

Yes perfectly.  It is required to patch GPL to at least v.1.2.0.1
although there's an all-in-one patch at
http://trackdb.d2g.com/all-in-one.asp that I'd recommend.

That patch is apparently for the UK version, or UK is in the name of the
patch. Is it ok to use this patch on the US version ?
Sid.

something like:

Just the usual problems that were already mentioned; I've turned file
indexing on for the GPL directory, and I use the POS on-board
soundcard instead of the SB Live 5.1 when I run GPL. It's a bit of a
hassle to change the audio device in Windows and switch the earphone
plug when changing between GPL and other games, but it's cheaper than
getting a new sound card...

I am using the onboard sound on my Asus A7V8X, and I get crackly sound too.
If I run GPL under Win ME on the same system then the crackly sound goes away,
so I now dual-boot; ME for GPL, XP for everything else.

Curiously enough, that's not always the case.  You don't always have to enable
indexing, even on NTFS.
