Man I really screwed that pit entrance!  I don't think I should have been
dq'd for it though.  Anyway I had a blast!!  I was very fast.  I have GOT to
figure out what is going on with my connection issues.  Mitch, I know you
are good with puters, would you email me so I could ask you a question or
two?

Me too, I very much enjoyed the race (and even won the practise race
because you folks were nice enough to give the laps back to Neil C and
myself).

However I think another wordy excuse is due for the pile-up I caused
when the 3rd (?) yellow came out. Someone told me over TS (I think it
might have been Mitch) to try and get some laps back, so I went into a
frenzy trying to pass the car ahead of me (possibly boster, but I did
not save the replay) before S/F, went for the right side of him and
then simply ran out of room between the car and the wall.

the cars collision boxes seem to be a bit bigger than they appear
visually, so what would at worst have been a bit of a bump in the rear
turned into a major rocker launcher impact. I am really sorry for
this!

The racing itself is great though, close, intense and not too hard
(you could put a brick on the throttle at Michigan). When practising
in the afternoon I went for the unmodified Michigan track with NASCAR
grip levels, and that was a very frightening experience to say the
least, but not bad either. My PB had been a 38.xxx and I guess you can
understand my surprise when everybody was running 33.xxx at
OWR_Michigan 8-P

This mod feels like the successor of ICR2, great fun. Again, sorry for
the turmoil! Watching the race after retiring looked like the real
thing in many ways, it was quite impressive how you all kept it
together for lap upon lap.

All the best,

Uwe

Yep, OWR is like TPTCC in that regard.

The front is especially bad.

Can they change the collision boxes without changing the appearance of the
cars?

Don't think anyone has found a way to work around that just yet.  That's why
the PWF T/A cars have a slight "funny car" look to them.  They elected to
distort them slightly to fit within the NR2003 collision box.

Just to add to JD's post, the collision box is hardcoded in the exe, you
could create a car consisting of a single pixel, put it into the game
and it would still have the collision box of a Nascar stocker

There are people who have been hacking away at the .exe looking for all
sorts of stuff, but I have to admit I'm not sure if they've found the
proper parameters for this yet

This was a LOAD of fun.  Frankly, it was quite entertaining too :)  I've
never seen that much passing EVER in an online race :)

I should have finished third or fourth.  I missed "The Big One" on the last
lap but, in my usual stroke of bad luck, got nailed from behind and it was
all over.

We need to do that again some time!

Our major screw-ups (including my own) were caused by the MISERABLE mirror
situation and the spotters.  On the start of the race, my mirror was
completely clear and the spotter didn't say squat.  I went left to make a
pass and WHAM! I knocked someone clear across the Canadian border.  We had
to wait for him to travel back by bus :)

I think that's what a lot of pick-up racers think they are driving.  A
single pixel!
