That's because it's in the 1.1 readme not the 1.2 readme. Since no one else
will help just add the following to your core.ini file. Or you can go to my
site and download the whole core.ini with the force feedback turned on, the
link is in my signature.

[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1                 ; Use FF if device has it
force_feedback_damping = 40.000000       ; force feedback damping
coefficient
force_feedback_latency = 0.085000        ; force feedback latency (secs)
max_steering_torque = 225.000000         ; steering torque in N*in giving
max device force

At the same time, try to increase the damping to something about 10 to 30 timer
bigger than 40. One guy here (sorry, I don't remember your name) suggested
1200, but I found that too weird, so I settled with 600. The FF is much more
detailed at high damping numbers.

I use the MSFF. I found out that I could feel the track a lot more with the
higher damping setting. I don't know how to explain it, but it felt a lot
"harder". The weight changes and suspention movements are better felt too.

Try it out, because my bad english can't describe it. And I sure don't know
technically whats going on :)

Well glad to hear you are using the Micrsoft wheel as well. I have never
messed with the default force feedback settings before. I will try your tip
out tonight and will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for the tip,

How do I enable FF in GPL

by Murchma » Thu, 17 Feb 2000 04:00:00

I tried the 600 setting last night and loved it. I even set a personal best
at Silverstone with a 1:28.51. At first it was a little hard to get used to
because of all the force but after I got over that I had much more control
over the car, I could feel more about how the car was griping the road.

Thanks,
