Thanks to everyone who helped me in my quest to speed the AI up. I
finally figured out how to do it after modifying just about every
parameter in the .ini files :-)

I remembered something I read in the readme.txt about controlling AI
speed and lo and behold there it was - NPT override!

I copied the fresh, unmodified gpl_ai.ini from the CD to be safe and am
now running with this setting at 0.985. This improved the AI times quite
a lot, and subsequently I have rediscovered the AI, and had some of the
best racing I've ever had!
