Problems with Winfast Geforce + GPL

by jkb » Wed, 22 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I'm having a problem when starting GPL in OpenGL mode at 600 x 800 or
higher: The screen is divided in half (horizontally), with the lower half a
solid tourquoise color.  The upper half seems to be three interations of the
in-cockpit view, overlaid/overlapping each other -- very blurry.  I can
actually use the arrow keys and drive off, and the sound is fine.

In resolutions of 640 x 480 or lower, the graphics are beautiful and the
framerate is a solid 36 FPS

I get beautiful graphics and a high frame rate in Quake2 at 1600 x 1200.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

JKB

looks like your using the nvidia 5.08 drivers these cause the problems you
describe drop back to the next set 3.77 i think.

5.08 does offer a nice treat though
open your registry and search for FSAA when you find it make the 0 a 1 and
it turns on FSAA better than a voodoo card

I have a winfast DDR with an Athlon 700 and MS-6167 motherboard,
Win98SE, DirectX 7.0a, SB-Live! Platinum, 256mb ram, GPL 1.2 with
opengl rasteriser, and don't have any problems like this. I'm
currently using the 3.77 geforce drivers. i never had any problems
like this using the 3.68 drivers or the drivers on the CD either.

Weird!

Try some newer drivers, it looked like you are using 3.62s, I
wonder if they are new enough. the latest official drivers are
3.68 I think, from www.nvidia.com. Don't use the 5.08, apparently
it makes GPL look weird.

sorry i'm not much help.

Grant.
