N2003...Anybody else having lockups in the menu screens?

Am I the only one having frequent lockups in the various menu screens?
Shutting down all background programs seems to lesson  but not eliminate the
lockups.  Also, seems to occur more often online than off.  No problems
however once in the game.  OS is W98se, and have updated to all the latest
Video, sound and MB drivers.

thanks

I had that problem early when I was trying to use 3D sounds with my SB
Audigy.  Disabled 3D sound and haven't had the problem since.

Need to add that this is a random lockup, that is it can't be induced.  I
may go several sessions in a row with no problems then I may have 2 or 3
back to back.  Sometimes it requires a reboot and other time I can get back
to desktop by pressing the windows key then reenter the game and resume with
no problems.

Thanks, but I am not using 3D sound, and I have lowered the max heard down
to 8.

Also, my sound card is Turtle Beach.

Just curious as to what makes you think its sound related?

Just for grins and giggles you may want to try 3d sound with the TBSC.  I
was getting some odd sounds with mine that running 3d sound cured.  Don't
worry about the performance hit. That seems to be a creative sound card
problem.

Do you always run the game after a clean reboot?  In Win9x, I found it
was generally better to do this, as well as shutting down all other
unnecessary functions (especially anti-virus programs).

Random freeze-ups can come from a lot of sources from CPU overheating to
problematic RAM.  Does this happen with other programs?

Not at all sure it is sound related, just grasping for straws.  I did have
sound related issues with N2002 and Sound Blaster, which were resolved by
switching to the TBSC.
Now I am just looking anywhere I can think to look.
I will try the 3D sound again.  It has been awhile since I used the 3D sound
option, and believe the lockups were occurring with 3D also, but it is worth
a shot.

> Do you always run the game after a clean reboot?

.....Not always, as I am on and off the computer all day long, but I do a
clean reboot and back ground program shut down before a league race and
still occasionally experience a menu screen lockup.  It does seem like the
lockups are less frequent after a reboot, but they still occur.

In Win9x, I found it

-----------It does not occur with any other programs, but I seldom run any
other games other than N2003.  I might add I did not have this problem with
N2002 once I switched from the Sound Blaster to Turtle Beach sound card.
