F1 2001- how many fraps on a PIII-700

on a PIII 700, 320 mb, ATI Expert 2000 (32mb)
in windowed mode, desktop same 16bit and  resolution as the game

I get
16-20 in single player ("test") looks almost ok, could be better

~10 with multiple cars in sight, looks not ok :-)

with graphics detail at "high" or "medium" not "complete"...
in San Marino and Indy.

is that about standard or could it be better ( if yes HOW TO?)
