N2003: Question about the adaptive AI

By "adaptive" does it mean the kind of AI that simply gets faster as you get
faster or does it mean that the AI learns from your driving style and adapts
itself to avoid wrecking you? The first kind I find annoying   but the
second kind is what I've hoped for in a NASCAR type sim. So is it the first
or second type (or somewhere in between) ?

You go faster they go faster, you go slower they go slower. I was running
The Rock last night and on the last lap they came roaring up and ran me
over. Up to that point I was out on a Sunday drive.  I'm only using the
adaptive AI to build up my % on the auto AI setting before starting my
season. It seems that if you run the adaptive AI you will get bigger
increases than when you don't. I love the auto AI percentage, but I just
wish it started out higher than 70% makes for some boring races until you
get it built up.

Try changing StrengthAI=70 in the player.ini file in the [single race]
section.

Cool I'll give that a try. I found in the playerec.ini were it keeps it
after you have ran a race but they are all blank until then.

I think it's just a speed thing.

Yeah, for MadDAWG 75 aughta do it...

Sorry, I couldn't resist :)

Also if you run a standard race or season with the old fashion AI percent
set, you will still build up the auto AI setting.  I was trying it just
using auto AI but it took 3 or 4 races before you could race them without
running them over.  Now I'm running a 10% season with the AI set to 95% just
to build it up quicker.  Cool feature, almost as cool as the Pit Stop
Frequency thing (for those of us who are time challenged).

Yep I'm really looking forward to getting into a good offline season 40%
length with 3x wear should be a blast.

I still only have the demo but I noticed if you set the AI strength
manually, say to 95% and finished a race well, the auto setting went up by a
lot too.  So it really only takes a couple of well run races with the manual
setting to raise it.

I was really looking forward to the adaptive AI but one thing I find totally
ludicrous is if you spin out or crash, the adaptive AI will slow the other
cars down so much you can basically catch right up within one lap.
