CPR-AI Vs UBIsoftF1-AI

With all of the moaning (rightly so) about the CPR AI , I thought it
worth while to point out that in my experience with both demos,
the AI in UBI-F1 seemed about the same. At the start of the F1
demo you really do need to pull over or someone will ram into
your rear. Then 3 laps later in 16th place, with a hopelessly slow
understeering car the field comes around to lap you. Unless you pull
over on the main straight again and stop, someone will most certainly
crash into you. This is totally unacceptable IMHO. I admit to being
fogged by F1's 3DFX graphics & framerate. But if the AI is this lame
it will fare no better than CPR is now.

Thoughts?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I thought the F1 pre release demo was posted
a couple weeks back. Considering that they are releasing the game in a few
weeks they sure have done an awesome job going from "early beta" to final
version in a very short time. I would be more inclined to believe that it
was a marketing gimmick. It takes allot longer to go from an early beta to a
final product.

With regards to MS they didn't have to release a demo. They already had
great press from all the screen shots and most of the pre-release reviews of
the game. Instead they released the demo so people could judge for
themselves. Hopefully people will be able to see past some of the AI flaws
and recognize how fun the multiplayer aspect of the game is.

Thanks

Sure, here's one for you...MS released their "demo" voluntarily,
and had even gone so far as to call it a demo!!...Imagine that?

Now here you have another company (UbiSoft) that claims that
their version was totally unauthorized, and in fact not a demo, but
an early beta.  This would make the comparison you draw of the
two completely invalid...

However, UbiSoft's claims could have been (and most likely were),
nothing more than a marketing gimick to generate hype for their
upcoming sim.  I've been to several Software houses, and these
companies just don't leave (labled?) software lying aroud for
someone to possibly snatch.  It may have been a way to see how
the people here would look at it ("hey!! an unauthorized demo
of F1!!").

What I do know for sure is that MS had a finished version of the
game, and it has some good points and bad - especially in the AI
dept.  UbiSoft says that their's wasn't ready (I am inclined to believe
this to some extent), which of course makes your points invalid,
but certainly not without substance.

One thing's for certain, we'll know soon enough.  =)

Cheers!

Oh, do you know, when the demo was snapped away from them?

I, and I'm probably not alone, will never buy a game without having
played a demo. Esp. not from a company with no proven record...
