GPL: My viewing angle vs. AI viewing angle

by Thomas Soerense » Fri, 07 Apr 2000 04:00:00

When I look at the replays of my horribly slow laptimes - I notices
that if I drive the Lotus my head and the other Lotus drivers head seem
slightly higher than the head of the AI drivers. When I drive the
Ferrari it seems like my head and the head of the other Ferrari pilots
are slightly higher than the heads of the other pilots. Could this be
true???

This affects, as far as I know, the actual viewing when driving because
the viewing angle when driving is dependant of the altitude of the
head. there fore to get the correct viewing angle when driving the
Lotus the entire head plus helmet should be lower than the "roll up
side down" bar. If Im right GPL is giving me a much better angle than
Clarc and the rest of the gang actually had when driving - so to speak
it "de-sims" it. Thats not nice. Am I correct????

Could someone possibly make the correct head altitude - opposite of the
"high heads" found at the dash site????

Your probably using an elevated***pit view that has been available for a
couple of months.  When using this, you are modifying the .3do files so that
you can see from a higher point what's in front of you.

Since the***pit view (where the mirrors and gauges work) is directly
related to the head position via the physics of the head movement (the 3d
***pit), the head floats in the air above the body ;)

<snip>

Nope :-D
People were loonies back then, no belts, and the roll over bars actually
were meant to withstand the car lying belly up - nothing about the driver's
head being below it. Look at the 67 pics, and you'll see that the heads
popped over the rollbars. Of course, they could always duck if they rolled
it.....or bail!(the preferred option)
