Just a quick question. Is it possible to change any of the ini files to get
the AI cars to spread out further and quicker?

On nearly every course the whole pack is bunched up together and overtaking
is a mess. At least for me<g>

Thanks a lot in advance
Andreas

   Yes it is possible...just buy <insert any F1 sim here> and your pack
racing will string out quicker.

They will? Damn, something must be wrong here then...got F1 2002 and
nothing happened to the AI's in Nascar.

Try searching Google groups in ras only for some posts by Haqsau.  I
believe he has discovered ini edits that made the field spread out more.

Whoops, there's my cue. ;o)  Andreas, check the track.ini file in the
track's directory.  Look for the section called [ ai_track ], there are a
whole bunch of useful parameters in there, such as:

ai_pacing_distance = 1.9                        ; car lengths behind while
pacing
ai_bunching_distance = 1.75                     ; car lengths behind while
bunching for start
ai_drafting_distance = 1.3                      ; car lengths behind while
racing
ai_dlongpad_scale = 8.0                         ; scales padding in braking
zones (smaller = more scaling)
ai_dlat_pad = 1.1

Most likely you want to change ai_drafting_distance.

Haqsau,

thanks very much.
I'll give that a try.

Cheers
Andreas

Dave,

anything particular you had in mind?
BTW, why should I buy one? I've got most of them at home already.

Regards
Andreas

      No sorry Andreas....just that the Minardi's lose touch with the front
runners by turn two.....So I was making a poor joke....but on the bright
side....that should be an improvement for me!!!
