I've been downloading individual cars lately and during a race against the
ai  a pack of five cars sped off into the distance, never to be caught.
After the race I noticed that their ratings were really boosted higher than
the rest. In the interest of practicing offline to race online does anyone
know what the default ratings are, or what ratings best approximate racing
online?
  Thanks in advance.

Gravel,

I couldn't tell you who is the guru of creating the ratings other than Jay Taylor who used to do it for 'The Pit Wagon' before they went down.  I'd imagine Jay is too busy to do this anymore with all of the PWF work that he is doing.

I have statistics for every Cup driver over the last 4 years, all of it broken down and track specific, but have no idea who to work with in order to produce accurate ratings - or as accurate as humanly possible.  I know some of the ratings are subjective but many can be manipulated according to the statistics I have.

I've been doing some tweaking.  You'll get an Alien-like performance
if Aero, Engine, and Chassis all average around 85+ (like with a range
c. 80-90), plus a good Consistency rating (which translates to more
consistent lap times, natch).  The course type rating also affects
things.   Some of the TPTCC cars have all their ratings as 70-85,
which will make them rather hard to beat.

I wrote a program for my TI-83 which spits out ratings for a range of
abilities (1-5, 5 being Experten with the ranges given above, 1 means
those three parameters average around 60), tho to be truly accurate
Aero and Engine shouldn't change much (as everyone drives pretty
much the  same physics model, with setup tweaking only taking you so
far), with Chassis (which affects grip) and Consistency being the most
variable. I haven't set my AI drivers like that tho because it makes
them easier to pass if their speed is porked, and I tend to curse them
less. :-)

Thanks Wag,
I'm not necessarily looking for accurate driver ratings for each driver individually but more of a general rating that, for instance at 100 % strength would approximate what folks are doing speedwise online. Doesn't matter if all of the drivers are rated the same as long as the competitive speeds are approximate.

Best,
Greg A

I just want to know why the AI cant move around you if they come out of the pits on fresher tires, rather than slamming right into you, on the outside in T3, at Vegas of all places.
