Mobil 1 Rally, Race against AI cars?

Yes, you are missing the entire point of Rally Racing. It consist of TIME
TRIALS against the clock - normally cars do not race against each other.

Try the arcade mode if you want to race against cars. You do not all start
in a group but the goal is to keep catching and passing the AI
drivers....ps - the AI is pretty lame, but then again....IT WAS NEVER
SUPPOSED TO BE A GAME ABOUT RACING OTHER CARS.

Ive had this game since it was release in Europe and it is awsome - top 3 of
all time racing games.

I know nothing about Rally racing, and just picked up Mobil 1 Rally
today at EB.  I really like what I've seen so far, but I can't seem to
find a way to race against any other AI cars?  It seems I can only
race against the clock.  Am I missing something really obvious here,
or is there no option to race against AI cars at the same time?
Thanks,
Andy

I really don't think the road is wide enough for car-to-car racing.  Imagine
to make a pass on a narrow road along side of a cliff. <G>

Use "Single Championship" to see the other human drivers in head-to-head racing.

In real rallies you get a time slot to start and you will pass a slower car.
RC2000
starts everyone off at the same time and it is a blast :-)  Passing on a dirt
road
with dust flying is not easy ;-)

With a P3/550 I run split screen mode when friends or family come over and the
frame rate is perfect if you turn off rearview mirrors.

Use Arcade mode to race with other AI cars on the track.

It's very fun and realistic enough for me out of the box with patch 527.  Put
the
steering sensitivity full left (lowest) and that feels about right with a T2.

Hi Jason,

Not sure what you mean about "single championship" with regard to everyone
starting off at the same time, as I have not seen any other cars here or
have to overtake any.

Only way this occurs is in the arcade mode. But in this mode the cars are
staggered, it is only if you catch them up that you have to pass them.

The original RAC rally by MF had an arcade mode whereby you started in a
group of 8 cars, great fun. I believe Colin McRae 2 will have this option.

cheers

Ok now I understand :-)   You don't see the AI cars in "Single Championship"
mode, but you see other human drivers.   Just try 2 player split screen mode for
a test.. you'll see player #2 in player #1's screen.

Hi Physman,

I was referring to playing split-screen with 2 players on the same PC, although
when racing over the 'net you can see the opponents car as well.  I have raced
both methods.  Do not choose Time Trial.  Do not choose Arcade mode.  Choose the
"Single Championship" option that appears to the left of the "Mobil 1 Rally"
selection.  I definatately saw my opponents; car.

When I get home, I will get the exact selections to make and post screen shots
to my webpage.

I have RC2000 (import) which should be exactly like Mobil 1 Rally in the US.
