I did have the latest patches of everything and I still have problems
running GPL with Viper 770. It is getting long in tooth for me and I'll
swap it with Voodoo3.
GPL is great product, need improvement in user friendly (no need to go to
xxx.ini files etc...) and add easy-difficulty slider, then it would be
awesome. They could take GPL engine, add user friendly interface for
setups etc..., that slider and sell as modern F1 sim, then it would be hot
seller! Upgrade/sell on annual basis for previous season driver/team
lineups.

Here are copies of two posts from Billy and Slot that solve the TNT mirror
problem. It stops the flashing, and there's no frame rate hit, it's great.
Newsgroups: rec.autos.simulators
Subject: How to fix GPL mirrors with any Nvidia driver
I just got the GPL demo yesterday and after seeing how good it is, I
plan on buying the game. There was a problem with the cars' mirrors
though, which I've learned has been a long-time issue with the tnt/tnt2
cards. I searched the internet for a solution and came across a message
here about using the 3.53 reference drivers with the "Use Block
Transfer" setting to fix the problem, which works perfectly. The only
problem is that those drivers suck hehe. I wanted to know how to enable
that setting with the 2.08 drivers (the best ones imo), and discovered
that this fix can be applied to any driver version by simply changing
the value of the "FlippingControl" setting in the registry to "0".
Depending on the driver version, this setting can be found in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\RIVA TNT\OpenGL], or
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\NV When doing a fresh install, the settings won't appear in the registry
You'll probably use the second path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\NVi Keep in mind, that the 0001 could be 0000 or 0002 or whatever, depending on Slot
\OpenGL]
until an opengl game is run once.

ia\OpenGL
the number of cards you HAVE or the number of drivers you HAD installed.
When you open the folder, look on the right side of the split screen for
"FlippingControl". Double click it and a box will open. Type 0 in the box
and close the registry (just hit the x to close the window). It
automatically saves the changes. Generally you don't have to reboot, but you
may have to.
