tried to do a dxdiag but it locks up solid, took it back to to have the
dealer who tested the card, okay.He suggests that it is my mobo asus a7v333
and recommends that i upgrade to a newer board. My question is does anyone
have a similar rig working with this combo i really don't want to upgrade
until next year if possible.
system
athlon xp 1900
asus a7v333 mobo

Have you tried upgrading the motherboard drivers? For example the VIA 4in1
drivers assuming that its a VIA based mobo.

Not to mention you did uninstall the GF2 drivers completely first, right?

What pathetic advice from your dealer...upgrade mobo..lol

As long as you uninstall the Nvidia drivers, then reboot.

Then run Detonator Destroyer,then reboot.

Then install the latest Nvidia drivers, then reboot.

Then download directx 9.0b and install, then reboot.

Then download latest Via 4 in 1 driver 4.49 from www.viaarena.com   install
and reboot.

Then you will be ok.

Just to add to what the others have suggested, the GF4 draws a bit more
power over the AGP port than your old GF2 did, you might try increasing
the voltage to the AGP port, I seem to remember this being an option on
the A7V333

Probably not, if the PC becomes unstable, run it with the lid off and
see if that helps, but unless it becomes unstable, it's not running too
hot
