Can someone tell me if you need this on the Asus P6NP5 Pentium Pro
w/Natoma chipset motherboard or if someone has tried it and gotten a
significant improvement in PCI bus transfer rate?

Thanks!

You still need FASTVID to enable write combining on the linear frame
buffer which most new games use except for GP2. Using fastvid actually
is quite easy and it won't wreck your computer or anything so you
should just get a copy of it and try it out. Incidentally, to enable
VGA write combining on the ASUS motherboard you need to set the Video
Cache option to USWC (from memory) in the BIOS and there is another
option (USWC speculative??) which you will probably find that you need
to disable to stop the system from crashing.

Also very important... You should upgrade the BIOS to v1.03 or v1.04 as
it allows faster CPU posting and results in much faster memory throughput,
although actual program performance is often not affected a great deal.
For instance, upgrading the BIOS resulted in Chris Dial's Benchmark going
from 81.1 to 82.4
