N2 Patch...What's the problem...???

by Jimm » Sun, 27 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Man, y'all***and moan for a patch to come out.  It FINALLY gets here, and
what happens?  Y'all***and moan some more!  Geeeeezzzz, give it a break!
Ya wanted the "save game"; well, IT'S HERE, dammit!

The only problems I'm having with the patch are:

I can still only "see" 60 cars in the "All Drivers" list.

The keyboard doesn't do anything to the entry lists (except the DEL key).

I can't get any positive cross-weight in the "shop".

Everything else is fine.  No green lines at the C***te night race; no
jumping around at Talladega; no problems with my T2; no "10-15 mph slower
after installing the patch"; even multiplayer was enhanced by the fact that
now my buddies show up in THEIR car, even though I don't have them in the
Multi.lst!

There!  How's that???  I feel much better....Thank you VERY MUCH!!

Damn, I thought it was me... I thought I had like a real special PC
that just didn't have trouble anymore. Really, though... I think if
some of these guys would do a little reading and take their time
installing the patch, take out all the little "fixes" that have been
published (not saying those are bad) just much easier to troubleshoot
with all of the "extras" from various talented Neticizens out of the
way. You can always add them again!

It's one thing to whine and rant about "when is the patch going to come
ouuuuut??!!!??!"
It's another thing entirely to politely let Papyrus know about problems
we are having and ask for advice from them or from the rest of y'all.
The latter is what I have tried to do. It's almost inevitable that there
will be some (apparently minor) glitches with the new patch. The sooner
we can get them documented and worked out (especially determining what
are actual bugs and what are the result of user error or system
configuration), the better it will be for us AND for Papyrus.

>>I agree after a fresh install of nascar2 the patch worked GREAT.

Why are y'all havin' ta re-install N2?  I looked at the date on the CD,
d/l'ed the RIGHT patch, and have had NO problems running it.  Why would you
have to reinstall it???  I don't understand.
  I'm running a P133, 16 M of RAM, Matrox Mystique video card, and a SB 16
sound card.  Nooooo problem...!

N2 Patch...What's the problem...???

by Dave Walkle » Tue, 29 Apr 1997 04:00:00

People have to reinstall N2 because they had non-papy patches applied
to their various N2 files.  The patch doesn't recognize the change in size
of these files and therefore flubs up.

N2 Patch...What's the problem...???

I believe it is due to some folks had modified files that the
patch came across. The patch decided that the files are not
the originals and skiped them or worse the patch stops all
together.

Mine did that until I copied the backed-up originals back in
their rightful place. I have not had the steering problem but
I do have the green border around the screen at C***te.
