F12001: Why no 3dfx problem posts?

Well the Nvidia legions have been pulling their hair out trying to get the
new F1 sim from EA working right.  some have made great progress...way to
go...but what about the 3dfx V5 users?  I haven't heard a peep from them.
Could it be because...
a) Not a single V5 user has purchased F12001
b) Not a single RAS user has a V5 anymore
or
C) THERE ain't no problems with a V5 and F1 2001.
Any Voodoo owners get F1 2001 to run well?  I'm curious AND somewhat
.......nawww  :)  too easy...

I've still got a V5 and I'd just like to get F1 2001 to run *at all *
let alone well.

Dave,

Maybe I'm just lucky, but F1 2001 worked right out of the box for me, using my
Voodoo5.  I just had to make sure that it was NOT set at 32 bit.

Looks just fine, too!

I have an AMD 1.4 running WinME and Voodoo5.  I have not probs running
F12001 at 2xFSAA on my machine at pretty much max detail. I get a slight bit
of texture corruption on signage but it's hardly noticable.

I did have a problem getting it to run on my Voodoo4, at first. The config
screen kept dumping me back to the desktop in the midst of running its
tests, and did not allow me to load the sim. However, after loading the
1.04.01 driver for Windows 98, it now works fine. Well, not quite - the
mouse pointer disappears when I stop moving the mouse in the menus - it only
appears when I move it, and it also disappears around some buttons, making
it hard to make changes. Otherwise, so far so good. There are a lot of weird
and unofficial drivers for Voodoo floating around, so try the official ones
in case you're having a similar problem.

Here's one that was posted right before your post:

What's supposed to happen when you run 3D Setup?

I've got a Voodoo 5 and I can't get the game to run at all. After
selecting the resolution, I press the anlyze button and the screen goes
black, the results come up as:

Triangle Rate: Cannot set mode
Object Detail Level: Full
Texture Detail Level: Full

Should the screen go black? Or should I be seeing something?

I'd really like to try this game after all the positive posts, but as it
is I'll have to stick to GP3-2000.

Any help greatly appreciated.

The Voodoo5's in general work fine with this sim. I am running it at
1024x768 x 16bit x 2XFSAA x 85 Hz. All I had to do is to upgrade the drivers
to the latest one dated "1-31-2001" to be found on
http://www.reactorcritical.com  . The picture is excellent. The only problem
with Voodoo5 may be that it cannot do 4XFSAA. Never heard of one who can do
it via V5.

Of course, all the Voodoo 1/2/3 users are unable to post any
problems...

Huh? My V5 does 4xFSAA, with a huge frame rate hit that is :)

And no problems with your mouse pointer disappearing in the menus?

Are you running it windowed? I did at first and the mouse pointer kept
disappearing. Changed to full screen and it's fine. Didn't notice any
frame rate decrease. Getting about 40fps at the start of a race at
Monaco.

No, I'm not running it windowed. Could you do me a favour and tell me
exactly what driver version you're using, where you got it, whether you
changed any of the default settings, and what OS you're running on? I've
spent hours trying different drivers for my Voodoo4, and my mouse pointer
keeps disappearing on all of them. Thanks.
