NASCAR 2003 vs. NASCAR 4

Hey all,

I have NASCAR 4 and was wondering if it was worth my while to get a copy of
NASCAR 2003.  Is there really anything different besides the graphical bells
and whistles?  Is the AI significantly improved?  Is the physics model
inproved by much?

Thanks,

$19.99?!?  It seems to be available for $9.99 most anywhere online.  :)

IMHO, the Physics are better, but the AI got a bit stupid.  It's worth the
upgrade, especially since it's down to around $20 now.

I'll put it THIS way then.  NR2003 is VERY much worth the $43 I paid for it
so anything less is a steal imo :)

Semantics....

If you're interested in anything besides Nascars - then the answer
would be an unqualified YES, even without the graphics and physics
improvements in NR2003.
The PWF and TPTCC mods are fantastic (TransAm really is something
other than else).  And there's more to come!
Depends a little bit on your rig - if you don't have a high-spec PC
you may not get to see much in the graphics improvements, but I'd
still say the improvements to the tire model alone are worth it.

P-III/650 with 96M of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 2MX video card.

PWF?  TPTCC?  What are those?  And your TransAm statement is a bit ambiguous.
Is there a patch, or isn't there?

Yes there is a patch.  On the web somewhere.  For an idea on mods go to
www.onlineracin.com/pwf/ and take a look...   Trucks and upcoming Trans-Am.
TPTCC is some type of touring car thingy...  Someone will help out with more
info I'm sure...

Is it worth it...YES...but you do need a good machine to run it at it's best.

There is a patch, affect online mostly, some offline stuff ...

PWF is ProjectWildfire, mods like BGN, CTS, Trans AM, Tracks, and other
goodies

TPTcc I a mod found at the USPITS (dot com)...  there are so much stuff in
the works , and already in usable mode, But I warn you, this game sux
without wheel & Pedals!!!  at least a 2 axis joystic (Left right front back)

Your orignal posts says EA's nead for speed, well this is different, your
not driving a fake car on a wide "hotwheels" type tracks through scenery...
this game is to Nascar (and the subsequent mods) as MS Flight Simulator is
to Flying, attention to many dynamics of driving a car at speeds with
atempted real world simulation...

If you used to jumping into the Porches and beating the ai due to 'hell
raising manuvers" then I suggest that Papy's NR2003 will seem lame to you.
But if you like to see what you would be up against, if you had the
unlimited resources like money, cars, and time, you can see if your driving
skills match other drivers...

Have fun, hell it is only 9 bucks, & ship...

I don't know Dirt, you may want to look into a computer upgrade before
getting into this one.   I have an AMD Duron 750 processor on a Gigabyte
GA-7ZXE board ( it can handle up to a AMD 2200 ), 256 MB RAM and an Nvidia
GeForce 2MX video card, onboard sound disabled with a creative soundblaster
16 installed.
I get very low frame rates.....most other players proclaim they cannot play
the game at similar rates.  I shut down all possible processes (many times
after a cold boot to clear all memory) and still run at about 30fps.  Very,
very little eye candy....60% draw ahead, 5 cars ahead and 3 behind.  low
quality cars, medium mirror, low world....minimal trackside objects ( I
would run none but need something to judge corners )......no animated
objects, no smoke, no skid marks, no debris and particles, cant seem to make
myself turn off windshield buildup  :-) (yes, I drive in the***pit.)

Anyway, you get the idea........

I wait until games are old to pay less, since I don't really play much....
Today I got N2003 at Best Buy for $9.99, yet I bought NFS:U for $39.99 (or
$34.99, I forget) when it first came out.  (since I play the NFS games more)

yes it is well worth the money. Guess the going price is around $10 to $15
depending on where you look. Which is great considering most of us paid $50
for the game.
Just the mods alone are worth buying the game. (cts, gbn, iroc trans-am).

dang, just stopped and thought about how much money I put in to the papy
racing games..hehehe
Wish that crew would come out with a motocross racing game..ms mcm2 is
extremely old..ugh.
